Our Living Room
Welcome to our living room. It is one of my favorite places in our house, it is so cozy and has an amazing view!
I love all our built ins in this room. I worked with our cabinet maker designing them exactly how I wanted them.
I’m constantly changing and rearranging the bookshelves (any one else do this or am I the only one obsessed?)
Our mantel features a picture taken of the church we were married in, I love that photo!
We cheated a bit in this room and had carpet in-laid in to the floor to look like an area rug. This saved us major bucks on our hardwood floors, bonus we didn’t have to buy an expensive area rug either!
These chairs were my grandmother’s, I always LOVED them. When she passed I was so glad to take them home with me as a reminder of her. I just spruced them up a bit, I spray painted them gray and reupholstered them with some light blue ticking to make them a bit more cottagey. They just make me happy to look at and bring back great memories of my grandma.
Our kitchen over looks our living room, which is nice since we are always gathered in the kitchen anyways.
So that is our living room, hope you enjoyed the tour!

Beautiful room! Can you tell me where you purchased the green throw?
It’s from Pottery Barn
Hmm is anyone else experiencing problems with the pictures on this blog loading?
I’m trying to find out if its a problem on my end or if it’s the
blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I just found your website on Pinterest! Love your style! I was curious as to where you purchased your hanging lights in your entry way and above your dining room table. Thanks!
Hey Kristyn! They are from Pottery Barn from a few years back, they may still have them though? Good luck!
Beautiful job! (I know it’s years later!) Any information on the rug under your dining table? Those are the perfect colors for my family room renovation and I have been SEARCHING for something just like that. Would appreciate all info you have about it!
hi Michelle it’s from Pottery Barn but they no longer carry that exact one. Dash and Albert sells several similar ones though!
HI Kelly,
I found your website via Elle Claire – Lucky Me – You have a BEAUTIFUL sense of style and fun!
I was searching all over your blog site….do you ever share, in one post, all your house colors? Color and Paint seem to be the quandary everyone stumbles upon. I know it looks different in different light….but would you share??
Also – I have asked this on so many blogs and never get a response. When I type in a question on a blog, do I need to return to that entry or will the response go to my “in” box? No one seems to answer?
Thanks, Megan
Hi Megan! So glad you found me, love Kristen! Here is my paint color post http://www.thelilypadcottage.com/2014/01/paint-colors.html although I have repainted a few things since then, ha. I’ll have to update it soon. As far as blog comments – it’s set up a little different for everybody. On my blog when you comment and I reply it shows up on the blog and sends a response to your email. Hope that clears it up :) you can always email me too if you have more questions. Nice to “meet” you :)
Love love love…… Just wanted to know if you saved by doing the carpet inlay instead of going all hardwood?
Hello. I love the family room and wanted to know where I can get the white stacking end tables? They would be great for a new room I am completing.
Hi Mary! I bought them at TJ Maxx about 5 years ago, sorry that’s not much help :(
Omg Omg Omg I love your site. I am a die hard New Orleans Saints fan and the play off game just came on, but I can’t take my eyes off of this computer because your ideas are amazing. How big is the chalk board that you decorate for the seasons? I love your house!!!!
Hey Kelly
I am a new subscriber, and I just took a tour of your house. Lovely! Just wanted to ask what year your world books are? They look alot like mine from 1923, where there was no such thing as “airplanes”, but there were “flying machines” ! I love looking at your decorating syle, since I live on the water as well in Prince Edward Island, Canada. We are starting doing renovations, so I appreciated the inspirations from your home. Thank you! Hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas- Pamela
Love your home…so peaceful, pretty, and comfortable looking! I especially love the blue on your walls. Could you share the color. I’m looking for this color to paint a bedroom. Thanks!
Hi- just trying to find out what the gorgeous wall color in your living room is? I’d like to try it on my bedroom walls, I think it’s just what I’m looking for.
Thank you!
Hi Kelly,
I am absolutely loving your blog and decorating style! It has been such an inspiration for me as I’m in the beginning stages of remodeling a newly bought old restored farmhouse. It has so much potential and I love your colors and style! Speaking of that, what color blue paint did you use in your living room? Is it a chalk, milk, or just regular garden variety paint? Also, love your handmade signs! Where do you get your stencils?
Thank you so much!
I absolutely ADORE your home, it’s simply beautiful. I would like to know the color in your living room — I’m trying to pop blue into my living space, and this is the perfect shade (I love how it is more of a light blue w/ the neutrals & whites throughout, but when the sun is on it, it’s more of a robin eggish color). Thanks!
Hi Kelly,
Your living room is lovely! I have a nearly identical pair of cane chairs from my grandmother! I love them but they definitely at least need to be reupholstered and I’m debating painting them as well. Where did you find the ticking fabric you used on yours and what brand/color of spray paint did you use? I love how yours turned out, but I’ve never found a gray spray paint that I loved. Thanks!
LOVE your house!!!!!! Can you tell me where you got your coffee table? And also, is there somewhere on your website that explains how exactly you painted your front hall table that you bought at Homegoods? I LOVE the blue and white colors!!!
I would also love to know where you got your coffee table and how it is holding up! You have such wonderful taste.
Hey Crystal I got our ottoman at a clearance sale at a local furniture store 3 years ago. It’s managed to survive my kids so far :)
I came by from 6th Street Design School and now I have a huge crush on your home! It’s just perfect down to the last detail. Also, major lake envy!! I grew up going to my grandfather’s lake cottage for weeks each summer and there is NOTHING that makes me happier than a deep breath of lake air. Enjoy it!
Thanks so much! We do love it here, lake air is sooo relaxing :) Thanks for stopping by!
Hi. I too love lake living. Did so for the first 21yrs of my life and am blessed that both my parents & in-laws live on the lake. I’d love to know your paint colors/sources for all the rooms in your home. Have you considered bogging about that? I’m pretty sure you’d make us all tickled pink if you didn’t mind sharing! Love yout cottage style!
Hi! What a beautiful home you have. I love the lights you have over your dining table. Did you make those or are they buyable? Would love any info you remember on them! Blessings!
Love the whole look. Clean and comfortable. Love the deep couch and chair. Can you share brand and style?
Hi Holly! I got the couches about 6 years ago when we lived in IA. I can’t seem to find any brand name or anything sorry :(
So beautiful…makes me miss our lake cabin. LOVE all the built-ins and the little “lake” sign you made. Great job! Found you through The Rustic Pig! Happy to be your newest follower, would love to have you stop by for a visit! :)
I’m a lake living girl too! Nothing compares to the water out your back door, wall of windows and bed in the morning. I too love your color on the walls. I’m redoing mine so could you please share what it is? I have your same clock! Love your place and your adorable kids!! I saw you a long time ago and then again on Liz Marie blog…It’s a sign!
Hi Kelly. Your house is just gorgeous! Love all the touches. Very refined cozy. Not overdone. It is so hard to hold back sometimes! I feel like I need to go declutter again now! :) I also would love to know what couch you have – we are in the market for new ones!
I’m wondering about your paint color also. Looks a little like SW Sea Salt.
What paint color do you use
I love all the peaceful colors. Something you would never get tired of
Just found your blog via Liz Marie, LOVE YOUR STYLE!! You are so talented! Thanks for sharing =)))
Love your neutral sofa, could you tell me the make/where you purchased it? Beautiful home, you are so blessed!
Just found your blog from your chalkboard tutorial. Newest follower. Please come over and say hello :)
Stumbled upon your website via Ella Claire …….. LOVE your blog!!! Your house is decorated so tastefully. I love that you have put accents of beach living in your home without being overdone! Very cute …. I’m a blog reader for the long haul ;-)
Glad you stumbled my way! It’s very tempting to go crazy with all the fun coastal decor, thanks for the nice comments :)
Oops, Reclaimed Bliss, not Ella Claire! I got distracted by Kristen’s comment above :)
Your Living Room looks so cozy! Such a sophisticated colour palette with so many textures and layers. I don’t think I’d ever want to leave :)
I came by to see your sign featured on Ella Claire but now I’m going to keep snooping around :)
Snoop around anytime :) Thanks for the sweet comments!
Thank YOU for the little push I needed to give blogging a try!
