New Barstools and a Big Announcement!

Hey all! If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I was in the market for new barstools. The wood ones we had were cheap ones that were falling apart and frankly just disgusting from our kids. There was all manner of ickiness (the proper term) stuck in the nooks and crannies and nothing short of taking them outside to power wash them (sandblasting maybe?) was going to save them.

So, I asked you all to weigh in and you did big time! It was so fun to hear all your opinions and I was reaaaaaaally torn.

I have to say it was split about 60 – 40 in favor of B and I totally loved B too, until I read all the reviews. We need them to bar height, and I kept reading over and over that they were great at counter height, but once they were spun up to bar height they were really tippy. Tippy is not a good thing with a 5 and 2 year old in the house who regularly like to stand on our bar stools (I know, it drives me nuts, lets all hope this doesn’t lead to dancing on tables later in life).

Sooo – that said, I went with A!

The Mr. was happy since they were about $200 cheaper, the kids are happy cuz they can still do all their shenanigans on them without breaking their necks, and I’m happy because Hello? I can actually take them outside and power wash them (ok so maybe just hose them down), but they clean up so easy.

They have already survived spaghetti night and making Christmas cookies, pretty sure they can make it thru any war after that.

I know some of you thought they might be a bit too industrial for my space, but I think they have a great farmhouse/beach house casual vibe that I’m trying to get more of in my house. I know I’ve said before that our last house was more formal than this house and I’m in a constant struggle to make some of our old pieces work in our house. It’s nice to have something new that really fits our lifestyle…and our bottoms!

Ok now for the big announcement – ready??

I’m so excited to announce that I curated an event for Joss and Main!

Joss and Main Sale

My event is called Lake House Living, of course! I had the best time picking out all sorts of decor goodies for your home. I chose a combination of things that I would love to have in my house (I’m for sure picking up a few items for my self), and also a few things that are similar to what I already have so that you all could get the same look for yourselves.

I LOVE shopping at Joss and Main and look forward to their emails in my inbox every week. If you have never shopped with them you can sign up here , and you will want to – trust me! They have the best style and home decor products, gathered into amazing design collections every week. Then they deliver them right to your inbox. You could decorate a whole room without even leaving the couch!

My sale goes live this coming Tuesday, January 14 and I’m so excited for you all to see it. I hope you all sign up, check it out, and let me know what you think. I’ll be back Tuesday morning with a sneak peek at some of the fab items in my collection, so stop back and be the first to check it out!

  4. Hi Kelly,
If you don’t mind, can you tell me where the stools are from. I checked the Joss and Main website but only see them in white. Thanks

  5. Love the stools you chose! Love your kitchen in general… just read your post about choosing your countertops keeping a bit of practicality in mind. I LOVE LOVE LOVE marble, but am looking for a possible alternative as well. Anyway, I am also wondering about your kitchen flooring. I would love to do real hardwood, but think, like marble, it might not be practical? Will you share what you chose? It looks fabulous!

  6. Looking forward to your Joss & Main series! I am decorating a coastal sun room and can’t wait to

  9. I have these barstools and LOVE them! They’ve withstood just about everything my two-year old has thrown at them…{Like literally thrown at them, scribbled on them, spilled on them, etc.} :) Congrats on the Joss & Main collection…can’t wait to check it out!

  10. I think your bar stools turned out perfectly for your space! And I voted for the other ones. Ha! So glad you got these instead. :) And congrats on your Joss and Main collection! Very exciting! I love shopping from them, can’t wait to see what you chose, love your style! Have a great weekend!

  11. The barstools look perfect! I am thrilled you are having a Joss &Main curated event! I wrote on their website that I would love to see you have one since you you have such a beautiful home and style!

  12. Perfect choice! Look great and practical, too. I had stools like those round ones and the grandkids knocked one over and it split one of 18″ porcelain tiles in two. So glad it was a replaceable tile and nobody was hurt. I especially like how they pull your eye around and you notice the floor, shape of the stools, cabinets, backsplash, and then land on the range hood! Awesome.

  13. I love those stools and would totally have picked those!!! And that IS exciting news about the joss and main event!!! Way to go girl!!!!
