DIY Chalkboard Monogram Art

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’m updating our master bath a bit, and I can’t wait to show you all the details!

But not today (whaaamp, whaaaamp) I wish I could and it is 90% done except for a light fixture that I’m not so patiently waiting on. So, as soon as my friendly UPS guy, who knows me oh so well, delivers it, and I successfully install it without electrocuting myself (cross your fingers for me…) – I will give you the grand tour.

I’ll give you a little sneak peek today though of my DIY chalkboard monogram art! This is such a quick and easy project.

First step find some cute cheap picture frames. I found this bigger one at a vintage flea market last summer and the other 2 at HomeGoods.

The new ones looked a little too new, so I hit them with a little Annie Sloan Dark Wax to age them a bit.

Then I just popped the glass out of the frames and spray painted them with some chalkboard paint, I like Rustoleum because it dries so fast. I sprayed them in the morning and was doodling on them by little man’s nap time.

Sketch out his and hers and doodle a little monogram with some cute leaves and you are done. Even if you don’t have a ton of artistic skill you got this one, it’s supposed to look a little handmade (which is code for little man refused to nap and I had about 15 minutes to draw these out!)

I love the personality they add to this awkward skinny space on our wall and bonus the Mr. won’t get lost in the bathroom anymore :)

    1. Hi Molly! They are from PB but they don’t have them anymore, although Dash and Albert makes several that are really similar that you can find at Wayfair.com – good luck!
