That time I needed drywall anchors and painted my living room instead…

Long time no post! I was here last week

A person sitting on a beach

aaaaand now I’m here again

A lot of snow

le sigh, I know, I know, it’s still pretty beautiful but it sure doesn’t feel as pretty as it looks!

Oh sunny mexico, how I miss thy beach chairs and fruity drinks complete with little umbrellas,

and now I’m left with snow and hot coffee

A cup of coffee sitting on top of a wooden table

complete with little umbrella to help ease back into winter life

but that’s ok. The Mr. and I had a great week together celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and I’m so excited to be back home with my favorite little people on the planet.

Naturally after I unpacked, grocery shopped and did all the laundry…

ok well in my mind I did all that practical stuff first, but in reality little girlies curtain rod ripped out of her wall and I decided I needed to drop everything and run to the hardware store for a new drywall anchor.

Our local Ace hardware store has a cat and little man always needs to find it and hug it, and squeeze it, and love it, and generally freak it out pet it ever so gently which somehow led us to the paint aisle and then somehow this happened…

Paint swatches on a wall

you can see where this is going…

I blame the cat,

and little man,

certainly I just had innocent curtain rod hanging intentions!

Before you all go “wait what? What about your beloved Santorini Blue?” I know, right? I feel like a total traitor! I get an email at least a few times a week asking me what the paint color in our living room is and I do love the blue, but you guys can I just tell you – we have officially lived here 3 years! 3 YEARS!? Do you know that is the longest we have ever lived in one spot ever? EVER! and the house is starting to show it, the walls are in rough shape and if I’m gonna go thru the trouble of painting, you  better believe I’m gonna change it up a bit.

Which leads to my search of the perfect neutral blue, yep – neutral, and blue. I believe it can be done! I just, you know, haven’t figured it out yet. But I have big plans to bring a bit more color and fun into this room (and another top secret huge project in the works that begs for this room to be a little less in your face blue) So no pretty completed room today, just me and my 332 shades of blue, which are soon to turn into 335, (heading back to Ace again tomorrow) but as soon as I figure it all out I’ll let you know.

Can you believe what lengths I will go to to avoid doing the laundry?

PS I never did buy the drywall anchors…or fix the curtain rod…

PPS Sorry about the horrible phone pics, I promise pretty completed room pics soon, well reasonably soon…

  1. Hi Kelly,

Try out Benjamin Moore’s beach glass. It looks grey on the paint swatch but it’s a gorgeous shade on the walls. I painted it in our living room in our old house and I loved it so much I just used it again in our new house. Good luck!

  7. No. Way. We were at our Ace yesterday and my little man can’t go in there without searching every single aisle individually until he finds the kitty! I wonder if that’s an Ace hardware thing? Do they all have cats?

  8. Kelly it must have been cabin fever that overcame you and caused you to decide to re- paint your room! I did the exact same thing last week Monday! I woke up determined to paint my entire kitchen – and I did! The hubby was pleasantly surprised when e came home from work to a freshly painted kitchen. Can’t wait to see what your color choice will be.
