Girl Room Decor Ideas

We are soaking up our last week of summer here before school starts Monday. I, for one, am kind of dreading the alarm clock, lunch making, shoe searching rush out the door every morning. Although it’s probably about time we stop eating ice cream for dinner and living in our bathing suits.

I thought I would quick show you a few changes I made in my daughter’s room last month. We redid her room about 2 years ago now and I still love it, but a certain 8 month old puppy I know ate the throw pillow on her bed. There was also some sort of dollar store green goo covering most of the bottom half of her old quilt, and red nail polish stains on her sheets – such is life with an 8 year old artiste! It was definitely time for a little refresh.

I hit up Target for groceries ahem, you know how it goes, and this cute little lamp made it home with me (find your own here). Well actually two of them did, one in pink and one in navy. It’s hands down the best part of the room if you ask my kids. They are pretty much magic as they turn on and off when you touch them anywhere. Whenever we have a playdate my son always welcomes friends in with “want to go see my lamp?” Actually it usually gets a few oohs and ahhhs from the 6 and under crowd, especially amongst the ladies, so maybe this blogger mom thing will pay off for him yet ;)

I snagged a new white quilt and these cute pillows from Target as well. My fave is this cute little floral appliqué pillow (find it here), which has become the new object of the dog’s attempts at destroying this room, something about it just screams “chew toy” to him.

These fun bulletin boards (Target again, get your own here) replaced the fun prints I had hanging above the desk. My creative girlie enjoys switching her decor up (where oh where could that come from?) so she has really loved the freedom of hanging whatever she wants up in her space.

That’s it, just a little fluff here and there and this room feels brand new again. Hope you all are soaking up the last little bit of sunshine and relaxation like us! You can see her original room here if you want to compare the changes.

  2. Love the wall paper and the updates! What is the paint color on the walls? Do you have a tutorial for the board and batten?
