Hey! How was your weekend? The weather here was beautiful, so I took full advantage and started some outdoor Christmas decor. So excited to share, but it’s not quite ready yet.
I thought I would show you some more from my playroom makeover last week. I love the nautical vibe the room has going, except I have this huge empty wall to fill, now that I relocated my letter wall.
I decided to try my hand at making blueprint art.
Sorry the pictures are so blurry (anyone else notice I apologize for my photography at least once a week? I’m working on it!) my camera was not cooperating with me today (sure blame the camera…)
I love these prints from Big Fish Art at One King’s Lane.
And these from Pottery Barn Kids.
They didn’t look too difficult to make. I bought some giant navy poster board and white charcoal pencils from Hobby Lobby. The only other thing I used was my trusty T square (notice the bottom is coated in white paint, I was in serious need of a paint stirrer one day – didn’t know T squares had so many handy uses, did you?).
I know this looks like it involves a lot of drawing, but it is really just a series of straight lines. I obviously used the Big Fish Art sailboat prints as my main inspiration, but I really loved all the little details of the Pottery Barn prints, so I added some of that as well.
See all my fancy boat designer squiggles? I did my best to make them look important and boat engineery (just go with it ok?)
Especially these ones. My little man waddled up behind me while I was drawing and decided to try and help…
Notice the lovely black magic marker squiggle? Yeah, he was in total stealth mode, I can’t believe he snuck a marker past me! I tried to camouflage it with these official looking doodles :)
You could totally use this print to build your own boat and sail away into the sunset…ok so maybe not…at least not one that would float.
I just tacked them up on the wall for now. I’m still debating if they need frames or not. This wall is so huge that I still think it needs something…some old maps? Maybe a rack of bookshelves below? I dunno – if you know, let me know!
(this picture is the worst of the bunch, but I wanted to show you how big the wall is)
There is the little marker fiend looking so innocent…or if the picture wasn’t so blurry you could see his innocent face :)
Well, I’m back to Christmas stuff – my house is in quite the state of confusion! It’s all Christmas on the outside and Thanksgiving on the inside with a little leftover Halloween thrown in for good measure!
