Homemade Wrapping Paper
So we all know I LOVE my spray paint. What else can I possibly use it for? Glad you asked :)
Wrapping Paper!
I have to confess – I’m usually a gift bag kinda girl (and I mean the crumpled up one in the back of the closet someone else gave me with a baby rattle on it and pink tissue paper, which is totally acceptable for Christmas wrap kinda gift bag girl!) It is one of my crafty down falls that I’m horrible at wrapping presents. They would never hire me at the gift wrapping station.
But this year I was determined to change that. I really wanted some wrapping paper that coordinated with our tree, sort of a burlap feel. I wasn’t having any luck (my little diva suggested the “gorgeous” disney snow princess wrapping paper at Target, but we will save that for her birthday! ) I decided to just buy some plain brown kraft paper and make it myself.
WARNING: I can’t guarantee that spray paint didn’t somehow get in the nooks and crannies of the wrapping paper and get on the actual present, but since this gift is inside a plain old box it didn’t matter. Just be careful if you’re wrapping something you don’t want spray paint on mmmkay?
I tied it with some twine and added a gift tag. Some greenery and a jingle bell top it off.
You can see a part of my Christmas Tablescape in this one.
There you go – 2 presents down approximately 25 or so to go! Better get to spraying!
Your wrapping looks beautiful!
Where did you find the snowflake jingle bells?? I haven’t been able to find them in any stores and Christmas is right around the corner. :( Please help! Do your bells have the star cutouts on the top half?
Thank you!
I think just at Hobby Lobby? Sorry!
Hi Kelly, That wrapping paper really looks great! Just stumbled upon your blog, so glad I did… will visit often…
So festive and frosty. Great Job!
too cute–love this, kelly:)
Yesterday, I was spray painting some snowflakes and loved how the newspaper underneath looked, when I removed the snowflake. I think I may have to follow your idea. It seems I am getting nudged. :)
Your wrapping paper turned out great. :)

Well, isn’t that CUTE! What a great idea. I love using brown kraft wrap too, but sometimes the darn tape wants to un-stick… grrr….
Thanks for the tip. Now, I just have to find a snowflake ornie.
Blessings,
Spencer
Well, that’s just beautiful! What a wonderful idea. Cudos to you!
Why didn’t I think of spray painting wrapping paper? I spray paint everything else. Genius.
Such a cool idea, and I have everything needed, even the exact same snowflake ornament :).
Love it, such a beautiful idea and creation.
Great idea…what a beautiful way to present a gift and who said it can’t look beautiful under the tree until then!!
It’s beautiful! A gift and handmade artwork all in one, who wouldn’t love receiving that!

I love this idea. I wanted to use the brown craft paper this year but am not happy with how thick it is. I guess I’m looking at shipping paper, I’ll have to look at kraft paper. I love the idea of spray painting the snowflake on.
This is beautiful! No one can say that your are gift-wrap challenged now! Love it.
Absolutely gorgeous, Kelly! I love the effect.

Beautiful! Love the idea! I pinned it!
Your gift wrap is beautiful! I never would have thought to use spray paint on it! I love the rustic look of it. I always use postal paper for the holidays and yours is so inspiring!
So pretty!! Love your gift wrappings! :) Have a great night, xo Holly
Gorgeous! I love how rustic and festive it is!
This is sooo pretty! I love it!
Who knew? I’m going to be spraying
a large roll of brown paper that has
been sitting in the closet for months.

Wow that looks beautiful!
Beautiful!! I’ve been thinking of wrapping “Santa’s” gifts differently for the boys this year, and I think this just might be how I will do it! Thanks for sharing at TT&T!

So very pretty, Kerry! I am going to have to try this! I am so tired of the same ol’ wrapping paper…I want to do something more creative! Your photos are gorgeous with wonderful clarity! Can you tell me what camera you use?
Thanks so much for linking up to Blissful Whites Wednesday!
Have a lovely rest of the week!

Another project I’d like to try but first I need to buy the gifts! Is it me or is this month going at breakneck speed?
How beautiful! Love the brown paper and the stenciled snowflake looks lovely!
Adorable! Great job!

Beautiful paper. And to think that such a lovely paper can be made with brown paper.,
Yael from Home Garden Diggers
Such a pretty idea!
Yup I’m going to do this!!!!
Hi Kelly – it’s so nice to meet you! I found you through Cozy Little House and am now your newest follower. I love your blog…your creativity and decorating talents are magazine-worthy! You must tell me where you found the iron (?) circles with the candles that are hanging on your wall in a previous post – the one Brenda featured on her blog. Those are gorgeous – even my husband loved them!
I hope you will visit me at my blog and become a follower as well!
I am in love with this idea! The only thing is…I’ve used kraft paper before and found it difficult to work with since it’s so thick. Do you have that problem? We have a little store here that is a lot like The Dollar Tree and it sells plain brown bags with handles…maybe I can try them. Love the snowflake!
XO,
Jane
That looks absolutely lovely!!! What a neat idea! :D
Hugs,
This looks so pretty! I am a gift bag person myself, but I plan to change that this year! This is a great way to do it — thanks for sharing with us!
Another gorgeous project from you! Lovely! Angie xo
I was getting bored with kraft paper because I have used it the last 3 years. This really dresses it up and then I can still recycle the paper or burn it in my fireplace. The gifts look great!
Very cute! I would like to officially go to just brown paper but I am forcing myself to get through a few more rolls I already have of regular wrapping paper! This is a darling spin on it! Love it!
Love this! I already love using brown kraft paper for packages, so thanks for a new take!
Such a great idea – thanks so much for sharing! Take care, Laura
This is so pretty! You’re so dang creative!
This would be perfect around my country Christmas tree! Hmmm – would I have the patience to do a bunch of them? Love yours!
Love this! I’m totally a kraft paper wrapper as well because of the endless possibilities! I never would have thought to spray paint on there – love it!
So pretty! I love it! Kraft paper is always a favorite of mine! :)
Kelly, The wrapping is a gift too! I’m using brown and white paper this Christmas, and will try my and at your pretty technique! I hope you join TUTORIALS TIPS AND TIDBITS with your snowflake gift wrap! Link goes live tomorrow at 8:00 pm!
what a pretty idea, love the snowflake design!
So cute! I love seeing pretty wrapping ideas, but I have so much left over paper, that I always feel like I need to use it up first! Maybe in a few years, when all my paper is gone, I can try this! ;)
