Bonus Christmas Porch
So remember those pretty poinsettias on my front porch? Well, I stole borrowed them (with every intention of returning them!) from my mom’s house down the road.
I really WAS going to return them, but they just looked so pretty and at home at my house. My mom being all amazing and everything generously agreed they could stay at my house this year.
So while she was in Florida a few weeks ago “Santa and her elves” showed up at her house to bring some Christmas cheer to her front door.
Her front porch doesn’t need much help, my parents house is gorgeous! Any scrap of decorating talent I have comes from my talented mother.
I got these trees from Bed Bath and Beyond but they looked a little scrawny so I added some twigs, faux berries and some icy looking branches from Hobby Lobby. My 4 year old “elf helper” insisted on the candy cane balls, and I think they actually worked out perfect (watch out for her blog in 2030 or her hologram web cast or whatever they will have then :) )
I shopped her house and found these lanterns and my old ice skates – if the lake freezes over this year I’m totally trying these out again…stay tuned for the “I broke my ankle ice skating” post…
I got these lanterns half off at Hobby Lobby – I may need to “borrow” these at some point too!
So what do you think, not a bad trade off? Also, don’t you want to see more of my moms house?? I’m trying to talk her into letting me do a little house tour post in January…if you’re interested.
Do you know the name of the color of your parents front door? So pretty!
I don’t sorry, they painted it 16 years ago now.
So very pretty! I love her blue doors!! You will be one of the features at Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again at the party. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
This is beautiful! I must have missed this the last time I stopped by! Though I am not a big red Christmas decorator, there really is something about it when you put it on the exterior of the house. The past few years I have done blue bows but I think next year I need to make the switch and do traditional red outdoors. It just looks so much more festive and I think it will pop on our white fence! :)
Crazy ’bout those front doors! She will love what you did :)
Hi my sweet Kelly…Those doors are so beautiful..you did good!
I hope mom will let you share with us…if you say you got your talents from her, I can’t even imagine how beautiful the inside of her home must be. Talk you soon…HUGS.

What a wonderful surprise for your mother! Just lovely.
You did a great job! Your little one has excellent taste too! I love those big double doors, so I am sure the rest of the house is just as gorgeous!
How wonderful to have your parents close by so you can (borrow)things when needed.
I think I’d sure love to see their home toured. Their front porch is enough to get me interested. You did your Mom proud with how you decorated their front porch. Bravo!
What a great daughter you are… I guess the apple did not fall far from the tree… the Christmas tree! Beautiful doors! I love the color!
Yes, yes she must let you show us more. We love home tours.
How lovely! And what a sweet thing to do for your Mom!
What a blessing you are to your mother! I would love to see the rest of her house in the new year!

Wow! I love what you’ve done for your mom’s porch! Want to borrow something from me? LOL SO, is she back yet adn how excited and shocked was she to see this? I think a follow up story will be needed :) Yes, a feature on the inside of her home would be great too! Thank you for sharing! Hugs, Leena
