Rice Krispie Treat Flowers

It’s my little girlies 5th birthday tomorrow, so I thought I would share these fun treats we made for her school friends.

She is one of those kids who doesn’t like cake, or cupcakes or frosting (what is wrong with her right??)  Lucky for her (and me) – I always seem to help her out with eating any treats she doesn’t want :)

She does, however, love rice krispie treats and sunflowers. So I did my best to combine the two.

These are pretty easy to make, just make rice krispie treats as usual but use a small jelly roll pan instead of a 9 x 13 pan.

Cut out flowers with a cookie cutter once they have hardened. (I stuck mine in the fridge to help them along).

Insert the stick.

Ok here is the only tricky part, I wanted to dip them in melted white chocolate because my little diva doesn’t do frosting. I foolishly thought I could just add yellow food coloring to the chocolate but it totally seized the chocolate up. It ended up working ok, I just spread it on rather than dipping it. But save yourself the trouble and hit up your craft store where they sell colored candy chips you can melt down.

I used mini chocolate chips for the center of the flower and stuck them in this cute pot. After my little lady ate a whole one and proceeded to bounce off the walls from her sugar rush – I decided for the well being of my fellow parents to use the next smallest cookie cutter. Hopefully that cuts down on the sugar high :)

  2. You can color white chocolate Kelly, I did green and red in the chocolates I gave you for Xmas, not sure why it didn’t work for you. But I love this idea, how do I pin it??!! Normally there is a link\button I can just click, do you not have that?

  6. Krispie treats look wonderful and I bet they will be a great hit.
What a cute center piece this would be at Easter sitting on your dining room table using different Easter cookie cutter shapes.

Yes, I would suggest using the Wilton Candy Melts if you want the colored krispie flowers.
