Ok, I’m in love…again…
I know, last week I was in love with my new sofa table, and the week before that it was my new throw pillow, and before that it was my daughter’s new bedding…
What can I say? I got a lot of love to give…but this time it’s the real thing. Big puffy pink hearts and X’s and O’s…with an antique market.
Yes, a whole flea market this time, I found my spot, my people, my happy place!
The best part was, I got to meet up with one of my favorite blogging buddies, Allison from The Golden Sycamore, and ooh and ahhh over all the amazing stuff together. Like Mr. Serious above, or how about some old wind mill pieces? There was just too much goodness to look at (and buy) I really should have rented a u-haul, or you know, not, because the Mr. just would not understand.
Allison and I both loved these, which Allison found out (from her amazing facebook followers) were actually used to hold spools of thread. So cool!
I loved this booth, the colors were so fun! My brain could not slow down with all the possibilities, I need to:
A) completely redo everything in my house to include this fun table and chairs
or
B) buy a 2nd home to decorate….
The Mr. would like to add option C) I’m never allowed to go back to the flea market again.
Ok, so we will leave the chairs there and just dream about a white washed paneled cottagey dining room featuring them.
I’m still dreaming about this sweet little dresser too, I just love the details and the rustic finish.
Allison luckily had made the road trip over to the Allegan Antique Flea Market before and showed me the ropes. This flea market is huge and has over 700 booths of goodness. I’m so glad I had her with me to navigate and help me negotiate too, she is a pro. I’m horrible at haggling, but got my courage up and did it anyways. I even pulled the whole walk away thing and still scored. The Mr. was so proud, although he didn’t fully understand why I paid $15 for a rusty letter “J” to begin with…
I think I might be going back for one of these babies, they are just too cool. Did I say going back? Oh, yeah this flea market goes on the last Sunday of every month all summer. I can’t wait for the next one, I have a list of things that I want to find this time (including eating some funnel cake) and I will be a girl on a mission. If you live in Michigan and want to check it out, you can find more info here.
Next week I’ll be sharing my favorite finds and where they are hanging out in my house.
Oh but I have to quick share this photo of the cute whale Allison picked up for me when she got to go down to Lucketts Antique Market. How sweet is that? I totally love him too (I know it’s a problem) and he looks right at home on our bookshelves. Such a cute reminder of our fun day!
Be sure to stop by to see Allison at The Golden Sycamore and read more about our adventures. She picked up some really unique pieces and I can’t wait to see what she does with them!
Sounds like such a fun day! Love those wooden bowls…dough bowls, is that what they’re called? Would make a gorgeous centerpiece on a coffee table or kitchen table!
I know I’m totally kicking myself for not buying one, hoping to find some more when I head back!
What fun. I love the spool cabinet. I think that would have come home with me.
I know isn’t it cool? If I could sew I would have been pretty tempted too!
I need to go to one of those…LOVE the little whale..it’s perfect for you home…xo
You need to, you would love it!
I’d love to know how much that spool cabinet was! I think this ‘one who sews’ needs that pretty bad! And those old dough bowls! I want one of those in the worst way. Maybe I need to head to Michigan…
It was a little pricey at $195 but then Allison found out they can sell for around $1000 on ebay, should have snapped it up!
Oh wow! If you go back and it is still there I should pay you to ship it to me!
Hi Kelly- I enjoyed your post. I was at that market and saw that spool cabinet but by the time I made it to that area, it had a SOLD tag on it :( But, I still came away with lots of great finds…including a vintage wicker dog crate that we hope to use once our puppy is out of the chewing phase!
Wasn’t it fun Lynda? They had the best stuff, maybe we will bump into each other at the next one :) Your dog crate sounds so cool!
i would love to find a little wooden camper like shown in the photo, so cute!!
Wasn’t that cute? I saw a few like that there, so fun!
It looks like a great place to be and great treasures to be found. I love that cabinet that you said held spools! Those bowls at the end are just terrific. Have fun when you go back!
Cynthia
Thanks Cynthia! I’m sure I will :)
Okay!!!! Now I want to go. Plan on me when we stop going to the cottage.
sigh – there’s nothing better than a great flea and an even better funnel cake!

I love this flea market!! I missed it yesterday…was exploring a market in Three Oaks. You must be somewhere near me…i’m in St. Joseph. How cool…didn’t think there were any junker’s/DIY’ers near me except Allison. Would love to meet up with you both there sometime!
