Friday Feels – Florida and Target Finds

Welcome to another Friday Feels where I share what I’m “feeling” this week. This post may contain affiliate links.

This week I’m feeling Florida! If you are reading this when first published, I’m currently white knuckling my way through a flight (anyone else hate flying as much as I do??) on my way to Florida to visit my parents, AND help with yet another house makeover. That’s right they are moving…again. 3rd times the charm maybe? Here’s hoping! I’ll explain more later, but I’m excited, because we will be gutting the kitchen at the new house. So, we are doing a little weekend warrior action while I’m down there and hoping to pick cabinets, tile, countertops, paint colors inside and out, all before I come home on Monday. If you follow me on Instagram I’ll be sharing a little before tour on my stories, so make sure to follow along this weekend.

And if you’re new here, you may be wondering what I’m talking about! You can check out my parent’s two previous Florida homes here and here. I probably won’t make it back down to visit until after Christmas, so you will have to wait a while for the after shots, but maybe I’ll share some design boards on the blog soon.

I’m also feeling Target this week, and to be honest, when am I not feeling Target? But I shared in this post a few weeks ago that Target introduced some new brands and they are so good. I’m still loving the new tops I picked up and I snagged these shoes this week – they are so comfy and cute.

The new Kristen Ess line of hair products is amazing too. Well new to me anyway, I think they have carried her line for a while, but my favorites are the dry shampoo and this beach wave spray. I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of dry shampoo as I try not to wash my hair more than twice a week and I’ve tried dozens. This one works great at freshening up my hair without leaving it gross feeling. Although I will say my ultimate favorite dry shampoo is Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo it’s a little on the expensive side for the amount I go through, so the Kristen Ess is a great alternative that’s $10 cheaper.

This beach wave spray can’t be beat though! I’ve used other beach wave sprays and they are always kind of sticky, but this one is light and just adds texture and shine.

The new home lines are coming out with fun stuff too – Hello Joanna Gaines coming soon!? Although I will admit I have only seen 3 episodes of the actual show because we don’t have cable, but I’m sure their stuff will be great. I’m thinking about this chair for our basement. I love the cain back and the beachy tone of the wood. It’s way cuter in person and the back pillow is removable. I’m thinking it would be fun to recover the fabric in a ticking stripe…

I’m still debating on them for the basement, which I haven’t shared at all because it’s a mess. I just can’t figure out what I want to do down there. Kind of like the playroom at our last house, it’s the one room I can’t quite figure out.

I also just ordered this rug for my daughter’s room (again hopefully I’ll be sharing that soon) she really wanted something cozy and I’m thinking this will do the trick.

Ok, I’ve gotta hit publish on this post and finish packing, but I’ll leave you with this fun fall shot I grabbed with my phone of our backyard!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. Just when I thing the summer view from your living room cannot be beat, your Fall picture is over the top. Magnificent, Awesome a show stopper.
Glad to hear an update on your parents is coming. We are still in upstate NY but we know our Florida home is safe and sound. We had very little red color in to his changing season due to he weather conditions here earlier in year. Your golden view may be like ours here!

  2. Love that view of the lake! Would you mind sharing what made you decide to go with divided light windows vs. plain? I’m trying to decide for myself. Thanks so much!

    1. I just like that they are more classic and cottagey looking vs modern. I just think they are charming and fit with the style of our house :)

    1. Hi Jen, I found them pretty comfy I only wore them to church and back so far though so I haven’t really put them to the test yet! They are super cute!

  3. I’m am PETRIFIED of flying, even though, like you, I still do it. Travelling outweighs the fear!

  4. I feel your Fixer Upper pain – we don’t have cable either. But you can buy a whole season on Amazon for under $20 so that’s what I did! :) Totally worth it!

  5. OMG — three times?? Wow! I’m fretting about moving again after 14 years. Unfortunately, I don’t shop Target — haven’t in the past 3 years. Does anyone else carry the dry shampoo? Since my hair is shorter I may just look for your other brand. Happy trails!!
