Friday Feels – Christmas Decorating Must Haves

Welcome to another Friday Feels where I share what I’m “feeling” this week. This post may contain affiliate links.

Hey guys, this week I am feeling all things Christmas! I have been busy decking the halls over here – I know, for most of you that’s early, but us bloggers need to get a head start in case you are looking for inspiration! So don’t throw things at me ;)  I thought I would share with you a few of my must haves when I’m decorating.

First up, Christmas tunes are an absolute must, especially since it’s typically the day after Halloween when I start. My poor children will probably need therapy when they grow up as they will always remember sorting their Halloween candy next to the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree while O Holy Night plays in the background. My two favorite albums that are in rotation right now are Simply Christmas by Leslie Odom Jr. (or Aaron Burr as we call him). I absolutely love his voice on the Hamilton soundtrack, and this album is perfect classic Christmas music.

My other fave is an old favorite The Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs This is by various female artists like Brandi Carlile, Fiona Apple, and Colbie Caillat. It’s just a quiet and relaxing album.

Ok now that we have festive music, we need comfy clothes and either wine or coffee depending on the time of day…or the amount of Halloween candy your children have consumed ;) These are my favorite go to comfy rib knit leggings right now.

I also had a bunch of direct messages on instagram about the slippers I was wearing in my stories last week. My feet are always freezing, so I love Mukluk slippers and usually get a new pair every winter. The ones I was wearing were last year’s and a slightly different color, but these new ones are totally on my Christmas wishlist.

Speaking of  Instagram you may have seen some sneak peeks of my new Christmas tree in my stories as well. I love this tree, it has super thick flocking on it and looks so pretty lit up at night. It’s from Wayfair and they have it in a couple different heights, lit or unlit. The 9 ft one I have is sold out, but they have the 7.5 ft one still if you don’t have taller ceilings.

A few helpful hints – I always use green floral wire instead of ornament hangers to decorate my tree. I just like the flexibility of being able to wire my ornaments in exactly how I want them. Also there is less of a chance of my kids knocking them off the tree. I also have an arsenal of 3M command hooks and strips, so I can hang wreaths and ribbon and garland without damaging our new walls.

Oh, and these little battery operated string lights were a lifesaver this year too. I kind of goofed and didn’t put plugs in the new house in great spots for my Christmas decor (specifically my mantel), but I actually love using these because they have a timer ability. Now I don’t have to turn them off and on every day.

  1. Thank you for the tips! Do you have a recommendation for warm leggings to wear with a tunic? You know those midwest winters can freeze a girl’s legs off!!!

  2. Thanks for the post! I may need to get these slippers. I’m just curious, what did you do with all your furniture from your last house? Did you buy all new furniture?
