Beach House Exterior Makeover

Hey everyone and Happy New Year! I was gone a little longer than I planned mainly, because I’ve just had a hard time getting my creative mojo back after all the Christmas decor. I seem to get a little blogger burn out every year in January, so I decided to take a little longer break this year. I took an extended social media break too, but that was because my phone took a swim in the toilet – oops! Which is actually not even the most creative way I have drowned a phone, I once rendered a phone useless by dropping it in a bowl of rice krispies and milk…

All this is to say that I’m finally emerging from my role as first lego assistant to my son and chief slime supervisor to my daughter, and now that my kiddos are back in school, I’m ready to blog again!

If you follow me on instagram, you know I was in Florida this weekend helping my parent’s finally move into their newly renovated home (The Mr. took over lego assistant duties for the weekend in my stead, however, slime making went unsupervised it appears…). I posted a quick insta-story tour of some of the rooms and saved it to my highlights, so if you missed it, you can check out my profile and still view it. My mom worked me to the bone all weekend and we got the whole thing unpacked and decorated down to the last throw pillow. Unfortunately, I ran out of light to shoot the whole house before I left, but I did manage a few iPhone shots of the outside (and some more sneak peeks coming soon). I cannot believe the before and after! Check it out –

I’m so bummed I didn’t think to take shots of this earlier in the day when it wasn’t in full sun and you could see it better, but my flight left the next day at 6 am and this was the best I got!

We are taking our kids there in February for a visit, so I hope to snag some better photos then. In the meantime, I need to figure out how to get my tripod in my suitcase…

The difference is amazing. It feels so fresh and beachy, and so many of their new neighbors have thanked them for changing it up. They are still going to add more shutters on the main level windows in the same blue color, but haven’t had a chance to hang them yet.

Here’s a refresher on the colors we used –Paint colors with text

I’ll be back later this week with a new Friday Feels – sharing a few tips on how to get out of that January slump and avoid the winter blues.

  1. I LOVE IT! THIS IS MY EXACT HOME COLORS TOO! I found it on a site a few years ago. I love it. It was hard to get the Wyeth Blue because of it being Ben Moore and the store being 60 miles away. So I bought a small can and then painted a paint stick with it and then had it scanned at LOWES and they matched it for the Big 5 Gallon Bucket. I think its calming and nice and sophisticated but a bit Beachy too. We have only had the front and one side of the house painted as we are still having siding put up by my hubby and one helper. We are on the 5 year plan here. LOL since we live in a rural area and cant find dependable help here near Houston. great job!

  2. Looks awesome, can’t wait to see the inside! Would you consider doing a blog post about photography or editing your photos? Your photos are always so bright and beautiful, I would love to learn how you make them look like that!

    1. Oh man I don’t know that I’m qualified, I still feel like I don’t know what I’m doing ha! I use Lightroom to edit all my photos and that makes a huge difference, but I’ll think about it – thanks!

  3. This looks much more charming and inviting. Looking forward to seeing more pictures. Ship you tripod UPS or FedX and then ship it back home.

  4. LOVE the house colors. (My master bath is Edgecomb Grey with White trim.) The blue shutters are perfect! Your Mom must be tickled pink!

I know what you mean about January blahs – all the pretty holiday decor is put away and the house seems UN-decorated. I have a very tall and full fake ficus tree in my den (I know, I know they’re not very popular anymore, but it sure adds a lot to the room) and I put a string of LED twinkle lights on it and they’re going to stay there for the foreseeable future. I smile every time I see it.

  5. The outside looks lovely….very sophisticated looking in comparison to how it looked before….what a great project!

Glad you got your mojo back! ?

  6. This girl is amazing- but I might be a little biased! Cannot believe how much we got accomplished in 2 days!! Love you!!
