Sweet Dreams

Earlier this week I talked about using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to update our master bedroom furniture (check it out step by step here).  I finally finished up all my painting (thank goodness for nap time!).  So ready for the tour?

First the before:

Remember the black furniture?  It just didn’t gel with the rest of the room.

The After:

It’s a little more tone on tone than I planned (I thought the grey paint was going to be quite a bit darker) but I still love it.  It feels so much more peaceful!

I got these old windows from a friend and thought they added some character to the top of the cabinet.  I also stuck an old spray painted vase with some twigs from the backyard up there.

The hallway leads to the master bath, love those walls sconces!

More Annie Sloan Chalk Paint goodness!

I painted our end tables this brighter blue color to add a little pop of color to the room.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the Mr. and I.  We were building our house at the time and enjoying our future view!

Now we can enjoy the view from the comfort of our own home :)

(yikes! I guess I should have gotten the iron out)

I’ll be posting later in the week about this cute little bench DIY.

And you can see how to make your own rope mirrors like the ones below here.

Peaceful right?  I think I need a nap after all that hard work…

  1. I’m so jealous of your re-painting/distressing skills! The armoire and dresser look perfect. There’s such a simplicity about this room. I also liked the boards with the words on them.

  2. Your room looks like a great place to retreat for some peace/quiet :) I’ve been thinking about using the Annie Sloan paint on our bed. Hmmmm… I’ve used it on a couple of tables and love the results. Love those windows over your bed and sweet pic of you and the Mr. Have a great weekend!

  3. Wow, I really wasn’t big on nautical theme rooms til I found yours. That is really saying something! Magnificent work, girl! You’ve really changed my mind. I want this room!

  4. Your bedroom is so pretty! Great job on the furniture! AS paint is addicting!!

  5. Love the before and after picture. Inspires me to paint what I have instead of buying something new.

  6. Wow! What a big job! But so worth it! Your room looks so much “airier” and light. Although I am a fan of black furniture, I thin the distressed finish you used is so much more interesting!
