Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, diced

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 475
  2. Mix milk and vinegar in a measuring cup or small bowl, allow to sit
  3. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, salt, and sugar,
  4. Using a pastry blender mix in the cold diced butter until a pebbly sandlike texture.
  5. Add milk mixture and stir until just barely combined.
  6. Dump the mixture out onto a floured surface and fold your dough several times over. Do not overwork the dough! It should still be a bit crumbly. Pat/gently roll the dough out until it's about 1/2 thick.
  7. Using a biscuit cutter cut out biscuits, usually 8-10 depending on the size of your biscuit cutter.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
