I’m so excited to become an aunt again in a few weeks – my brother and sister-in-law are expecting a little boy any minute! We have been trying to find ways to teach our own kids about giving back so when I heard about Project 7 products and the amazing ways they help others through their products it got my wheels turning. We decided to do a 2 fold give back project, first we would make a meal for my sister-in-law and give her the night off (all you moms know how fun it is to cook 9 months pregnant), 2nd we would buy 10 packs of Project 7 gum and pass it on to encourage others to give back too.
First up the soup! We hit up my favorite grocery store Meijer to grab all our fresh veggies and our Project 7 gum. We decided to give a pack of gum to the cashier which my kids thought was so fun! So far giving back was going great.
This Spicy Corn Chowder Soup is easy to put together. It’s creamy and delicious with a bit of a kick from the pepper jack cheese. I like to serve my soup with some fresh multi-grain baguette from Meijer’s bakery.
Yum, this recipe is so delicious! My brother and sister-in-law live right down the road from us, so we had a great time walking our soup down to my sister-in-law, doesn’t she look great? Can’t wait to meet that little guy hanging out in her tummy. I packed the soup in a storage container, put it in this cute basket ala little red riding hood, topped it with a tea towel, and some more yummy Meijer bakery rolls. We shared a pack of Project 7 gum with them too!
The 2nd part of our giving back mission was where the kids really got to get involved. There aren’t a whole lot of kids on our street once summer ends, so they are sort of the unofficial mascots of the neighborhood. They run a little wild and have lots of neighbors who love to look out for them, hand them freshly baked cookies when they bike by, let them pick strawberries from their garden or feed their koi fish. We even have a neighbor who calls to find out what candy they like for Halloween since they are usually the only trick or treaters around. Our neighbors are pretty great, so we thought it would be fun to give back to them for a change!
We made these cute little thank you tags and tied them around the Project 7 gum. My kindergarten girlie loves to flaunt her scissors skills, so she was a big help.
Then we loaded up the wagon and hit the streets! It was so great to see my daughter excited about giving something away rather than getting something in return. I think it’s so important to teach my kids about blessing others, and that’s why Project 7 is such a great company! They are a brand built on giving. I just love this part of their mission statement -
“If people are going to buy things. Lots of things. Then let’s use those things they purchase to help change the world around us. Let’s make everyday products for everyday people to solve everyday problems around the globe.”
I just love this idea and their message – I get a great product and I can feel good about giving back at the same time. For every pack of Project 7 gum you purchase you are helping to feed the hungry or plant a tree. One pack of gum provides 7 meals or plants one fruit tree. Their goal next year is to provide 1 million meals for the hungry and plant 1 million trees!
It’s a small thing to buy a pack of gum, but you can make a huge difference in someone’s life with just that one little act. You can learn more about Project 7 by visiting their website, following them on Facebook, or twitter. Or by watching this great video -
