The Best Fall Throw Pillows for Every Type of Space

best fall throw pillows

Fall weather is just about to hit Michigan and I’m prepping the house with some festive touches. I’ve always been big on swapping out my throw pillows with the change of the seasons. It’s a quick and easy way to transform a space throughout the year.

Throw pillows are also fairly easy to store, and if you choose them wisely, they should last for years to come. It’s always so much fun to pull out my seasonal throw pillows each fall and incorporate them in our living room. If you’re in the market for some new additions, here are the best fall throw pillows for the season ahead.

Wool Plaid Lumbar Pillow Cover

Plaid pillows and the fall season go hand in hand. The wool fabric on this lumbar pillow cover will create a cozy, welcoming vibe in any living space.

Chunky Sweater Pillow Cover

Thick knits don’t have to be limited to the winter. I love the hues these chunky sweater pillow covers come in. The zipper closure makes them easy to swap out when the season changes.

Oversized Woven Throw Pillow

Burnt orange is a classic fall color that looks so pretty when incorporated with creams and whites. The rich hue of this oversized throw pillow is so seasonally appropriate.

Almond Brown Plaid Pillow

The simple striped print on this throw pillow offers a subtle nod to fall. It comes complete with an alternative-down insert so you can just toss it on your bed or couch for a quick, seasonal update.

Textured Striped Pillow Cover

This pillow would actually make a great addition for fall and spring. The linen fabric is so timeless and warm.

Camel Suede Throw Pillow

A camel hue combined with suede just feels like fall. Toss this pillow on a white couch or add it to your bed for a cozy touch.

Mauve Mongolian Throw Pillow

Incorporating sheepskin fabric can add a sense of festivity to a space—perfect for both the fall and winter season.

Wool-Blend Cushion Cover

The unique texture of this wool-blend throw pillow would add visual interest to a neutral couch. Can’t beat the pricepoint!

Lucian Pillow

The check design on this throw pillow is a classic for the fall. It comes in a black pattern as well—perfect for pairing with this rust color for Halloween.

Linen Gingham Pillow Cover

Pair this gingham printed pillow with neutrals for a classy, autumnal vibe. It’s on major sale at Serena and Lily right now.

Heath Pillow Cover

Playful tassels bring a fun element to this grove colored throw pillow. The herringbone pattern is also so ageless.

Kamala Lumbar Pillow

Made for both indoor and outdoor use, this lumbar pillow comes in a pretty shade of taupe, deep blue, and a brown/gray hue that’s perfect for the autumn.

  1. Could you share what type of wood and if possible what type of stain is on your dining room table? I love it and am trying to recreate a similar look but I’m in MA and not having any luck – if I knew the materials that might help. Thanks

  2. Luckily I can sew basic pillow covers (and have an upholstery guy who can do fancier ones for CHEAP!) because the price of some pillow covers is ridiculous!! I have a great fabric I’m going to make one of those long pillows for our sofa (I think, maybe 2 20″ ones). It’s deep green, navy, a tan/taupe and a bit of seafoam. I don’t do “traditional” fall colors as those are just not my thing. I’m a blue/green kind of gal! LOL I’m looking for some good teal/green ones to work with the fabric. Already have a chunky throw in that color.
