Built In Shelf Styling Ideas

built in shelf styling ideas

If you’re looking for built in shelf styling ideas, you’re in the right place! I gathered fifteen of my favorite finds that would all look so great (either together or separate) on your shelves. I selected items that all bring something different since you’ll want to be sure to include some pieces that add height, some that add texture, and some that are maybe even practical (hint: clocks).

It’s usually best to start with a few must-have, larger pieces and then add your smaller items throughout your shelves. I always like adding a framed piece if the shelves are tall enough to add a personal touch. Adding in some greenery (real or fake) is also a good move. Don’t be afraid to have some fun with it!

Marin White Candle Holders

The two different heights of these candle holders look so good together and I actually love the way they’re styled in this picture. You could swap out the candles for a fun pop of color too!

Column Marble Bookends

There’s so many options for bookends out there these days, but these are a bit more unique. These would look amazing paired with a handful of your favorite books up on a shelf.

Black Pedestal Bowl

I love the contrast that black pieces of decor can bring to white or lighter colored shelves. This would look so good with some of these decorative wood balls placed in it.

Rattan Wrapped Object

The rattan wrapping on this object gives it a bit more character than the ones you typically would see.

Faux Green Bay Leaf Branches

It’s always nice to add a little touch of greenery to your built in shelves! These faux branches look so real and would look good in any vase.

Maya Terra Cotta Planter

If real plants are more up your alley, try putting your green thumb to work with this adorable terra cotta planter.

Aspen Reclaimed Wood Bowl

You really can’t go wrong with a wood bowl, especially this one.

Sina Vase

This vase is so eye-catching, it almost looks like it should be in a museum. It also looks way more expensive than it is.

Charcoal Leaves Framed Print

I always think framed pieces look so cute mixed in on shelves to add a little height where needed. This print is simple yet still intriguing.

Seaglass Beaded Garland

These beaded garland strands seem to be popping up more and more these days, but I totally see why! They’re so fun and would add charm to any shelf.

Elisa White Sculptures

This set of two white sculptures is also so expensive looking. These would look good as pictured, or separated onto separate shelves.

Natural Grapewood Branch

This would be such a good piece if you needed something to add some texture and width to your shelves. It also brings such a fun beach feel!

Facet Desktop Clock

You really can’t go wrong with adding a clock to your built in shelf decor. It’s both practical and pretty!

Marble Stone Stacking Game

This marble stone stacking game is nice to look at but would also be so fun to grab off of a shelf in the living room to play with your guests.

Woven Bottle Vases

This set of five woven vases would look good kept together or spread out across multiple levels of shelves. You could even add dried florals to a few for added detail.
