Blue and White Bathroom Refresh
I’ve been working on a little refresh on my daughter’s blue and white bathroom. I know, I know, the original bathroom design was such a reader favorite. The blue vintage dresser was a fun flea market find, and our cabinet guy made it into a bathroom vanity.

Alas, some things are more pretty than practical and this turned out to be one of those things. My daughter was 8 when we built our home. She was pretty low maintenance and didn’t need much storage.

Fast forward to 6 years later and her bathroom looks like a Bath & Body Store tornado. I sort of forgot how many lotions and potions teenage girls tend to collect.

The storage in the old vintage dresser was just not cutting it. Not to mention the drawers were hard to open and close. There was an eye twitch inducing pile of makeup and hair accessories everywhere, and I couldn’t handle it anymore!

Her bathroom is also the main bathroom for everyone hanging in the basement. So the blue vanity had its time, but it was time to go. I ordered a new vanity with tons of storage space.

Which of course, as is often the case, prompted me to switch out the mirror. Which resulted in a new light fixture as well, and down the line it went…

Let’s talk about the updates!
First off I love the warmth the wood adds to the space and it’s really similar in color to our wood flooring right off her bathroom. It looks like it was always meant to be here. I swapped out the hardware, because I wanted the softer look of brass in this space.

This large round mirror use to hang above our fireplace and was just sitting in a closet. I hit it with a little coat of European Gold Rub n Buff and it looks like a new mirror. Bonus the larger mirror works so much better for my shorty 5’2 daughter.

Unfortunately, the old light was now too low for the new mirror. I also wanted to add more brass in the mix. I scored this new light fixture on sale and it works perfectly in this space.

I never got around to hanging art in this room when we moved in. This little makeover was the perfect kick in the rear to do just that. I printed out a few summer photos that I used the Brushstroke app on.

I think I’ve talked about this app on Instagram before, but maybe not here? It makes any photo look like a painting and there are tons of fun options to play around with.

Oh and the rug is new too! I originally ordered it for our bathroom, but on a whim decided to unroll it in her’s instead. I love the little bit of coziness it added to the space. The subtle pattern is so pretty in this blue and white bathroom.

A few new accessories and this space feels brand new.

I’m happy to report that the new vanity has been in for a few weeks now and she has been keeping it organized…mostly.

Love the new bathroom! Where did you find the hooks for the towels? Thanks!
They are old from Anthro they don’t carry the anymore unfortunately.
Love the new look. Do you remember the size frames you bought above the toilet?
Hmmm I think one holds an 8×10 and one a 5×7?
Does this rug have any blue in it?
It does yes!
Love the new look! The wood vanity really warms up the space!
