Salted Maple Old Fashioned Cocktail
We recently took a ski trip up north with our friends and had so much fun. I hadn’t been skiing in 15 years, but thankfully it was just like riding a bike. After a full day of skiing, I was more than ready for a cocktail. One of the Mr.’s favorite Michigan distillery’s, Iron Fish, was nearby so we had to try it out. Their cocktails and pizza were phenomenal! My favorite drink was their salted maple old fashioned cocktail. You know I had to try to make it at home.

Spoiler alert, after much trial and error, the Mr. nailed this recipe!
Iron Fish sells everything you need to make this cocktail at home conveniently right on site. Of course we took lots of goodies home with us. I’m just realizing looking back at these photos that I forgot to add the orange peel to mine, whoops! I guess that’s optional since it tasted delicious without it as well.
The key to this cocktail is their bourbon which is finished in maple syrup barrels. It is worth a try even if you aren’t typically a bourbon drinker.

You can find their bourbon throughout Michigan as well, but if you aren’t local you can still make this recipe, it just might not be exact. We also bought their maple syrup and bitters.
