I announced last week on instagram that I had some exciting news…to which a bunch of you thought I was pregnant haha – no more babies here. The black glass cabinet that I ordered way back in September finally arrived!

It took almost as long as a pregnancy? ;) It was worth the wait! I’m so happy with how it looks in our home. I thought I would share a few photos today along with how I styled it.

If you remember, this flea market table used to be here. I played a little musical furniture in our house and moved it to the entryway instead.

Which left me a big ole blank wall. I liked the idea of a glass cabinet here, that could double as display and extra kitchen storage.

I was on a hunt for a black glass cabinet, which is a color I have repeated throughout our home. From light fixtures, hardware, countertops, and accessories – I have a bit of black in every room.

Rug / Chairs / Lamp / Blanket / Navy Pillow / Patterned Pillow / Sofa
Tip: Repeating a color throughout your home helps your spaces flow together.

An all black cabinet may have been too overpowering in this space. However, the light wood interior really balances it out. It also speaks nicely to our dining room table with black chairs.

It actually feels like this was the missing piece to tie the living room and dining area together.

The cabinet provides a little separation to the kitchen as well.

Charcoal plates / Napkins / Cabinet
As far as styling goes, I’m sure I’ll change this around a million times. I actually messed around with this cabinet during a huge ice storm. I wasn’t going to hit the roads in that weather, so I opted to shop our home and pull items from other areas.

Candlesticks / Frame / Art / Wood bowls / Amber Vases / Plates
You may recognize some of the items from other rooms.

I removed one of the shelves to accommodate a large piece of art and a vase. I liked the idea of having one bigger focal point, so it didn’t feel too busy.

Barstools / Tray / Pendants lights / Breakfast nook table
Then I just filled in with extra dishes, serving ware, and a pile of old magazines. Like I said I was shopping my house so options were limited! I’m sure this will evolve over time, but it was fun to play around with it.

Chairs / Sectional / Rug / Black end tables / Lamp
This piece was definitely a splurge item, but I really wanted to invest in a solid quality piece that we will have for a long time. I’ll link a few other options below at different price points.
It’s actually in the same vein as the black cabinet I put in the guest cottage kitchen for extra storage.
What is the choice of color of your rug in the living room?
Please please share your white paint colors here (kitchen cabinets, wall, trim), the blue wall color in the room beyond the table and your flooring- it’s lovely!
