Ahoy It’s a Boy – Baby Shower
Hey all! So, I’m gonna be an auntie (well, again, I’m already an aunt to my 2 adorable nieces). My older brother and his wife are expecting their first little nugget this fall. They live 5 houses down from us (have I not mentioned that my whole crazy family lives on the lake?) and we are so excited they are having a little boy!
My mom and I put our noggins together (and our collection of nautical decor) and decided to go with the classic “Ahoy it’s a Boy” theme for the baby shower. We had the best time putting stuff together for the shower and my mom learned she is a lot craftier than she thought. I even had her using a hot glue gun – Martha eat your heart out!
Here are a bunch of photos from the party I managed to quick snap before the guests arrived. Sorry for the bright back lighting in a lot of the photos I kindly asked the sun to move for my photo shoot…clearly that didn’t work out for me.
Oh and you lucky ducks are getting a few sneak peeks of my mom’s kitchen in these photos. Her house tour is coming soon on the blog!
I made this cute bunting by cutting no less than 10 bazillion triangles out of card stock and threading them with twine. Then I just hand painted the letters on.
This was a breakfast shower so we made lots of yummy muffins, breads and caramel pecan rolls…and some fruit so we could all pretend like we were eating something healthy.
I had fun designing all the food labels, I used pic monkey. It’s a free (mostly) site for editing photos, it’s so easy to use.
We served “Low Tide Ice Tea” and “Sea Breeze Punch” and ice water (party foul – the fancy iced tea container leaked all over the floor).
Our favor bags held these great little nautical notepads and pens.
We wanted to keep things low key, so we just had one game where we just guessed the prices on some random baby items.
We enjoyed our nautical sugar coma inducing breakfast out on my mom’s porch…
not a bad way to spend the morning!
Now about those pecan caramel rolls…
don’t worry recipe coming soon!
Do you have a printable for the drink sign and the guess the price sign?
Sorry April I don’t! This is an old post before I even knew how to offer a printable, I should do that though!
Very nicely done! What did you give to the winner of the baby item pricing game? Also, would you mind if I linked to this page on my website?
Thanks,
Tori
They got a cute little notebook :) you may use a link back thanks!
We love.your nautical theme shower and would like to know if you made or ordered the napkin ring tags…? Thanks!
Hi Diane! I made them in PicMonkey it’s a free website that let’s you make printable things. They have nautical themed overlays in the overlay section that I used.
Great job!! Can I ask where you got the notebooks and pens?
I wish to thank you Kelly for the baby shower ideas. We too live at the lake so it only seemed fitting to have Ahoy It’s a Boy at our own house. Believe it or not, Canada has not been so accommodating for nautical themed items therefore a trip across the border was in order. The shower is on the 20th of this month and I cannot wait for the decorations to be up, the food to be out and the guests to arrive. Thank you again for the theme, it is definitely a memorable one!
You are so welcome – hope your shower is amazing :)
What a beautiful shower you threw for your brother and sister-in-law.
xoxo
Denyse
thanks so much Denyse we had a great time!
Thank you so much (again) for throwing this shower for me! My mom is a little stressed out now to try to keep up with these adorable ideas and perfect execution at the shower she is throwing for me this weekend – you just make it so hard to keep up, creatively speaking of course! I’m very lucky to have married into such a wonderful family! ❤❤❤ :)
So happy to have you in the family Sam :)
So adorable! Love everything!
Thanks Deanna!
Love all the details!!! From the food to the decor!
Love your shower ideas! I especially love that it’s not pink and blue. Don’t get me wrong, I like those colors for a baby shower but I think your colors are unique and stylish. I think it’s so neat that your family lives on the lake too! Are your relatives homes as beautiful as yours? Your home was my favorite of the tour. My family and I are headed to Greenville, Michigan this weekend for Danish Festival. Have you heard of it? Enjoy the day!
Oh thanks Christine! We have another tour next week that is just for kitchens so make sure you stop back :)
Everything is SO adorable!! And I NEED those pecan treats in my life!
They are SO good! You need to be my neighbor and I’ll bring you some everyday!
Every detail is so adorable – but I’m not surprised, coming from you! Great job!!
Thanks Kristin, I’m trying to work it with the fonts like you do ha, I have a long ways to go to catch up to your design skills!
As always your family is amazing and this party is perfect. I’m loving that you didn’t miss a single detail. All the little paper signs and bunting are adorable. Congrats on the creativity and love growing with an addition to your fam. Xox
Thanks so much Bethany!! I love seeing all the great photos of your fam on instagram, I totally look forward to seeing your stuff in my feed everyday :)
Oh my goodness…everything looks so wonderful! Just love the crisp red, white, and blues and the nautical theme! The mom to be must have felt so special and loved!
She is special and loved! Thanks Lisa :)
So cute, Kelly. Every detail just perfect! Of course, you crafty mama, you :)
Hi Kelly,
I’m not planning on hosting a baby shower any time soon, but these ideas are DEFINITELY being filed away for when I do! I love the theme and how you planned and decorated around it. Everything was so lovely! Congratulations to your entire family – a new baby is such a blessing :)
Thanks Megan! We are SO blessed and beyond excited!
Kelly, would you post the recipe for the punch, too? It was amazing!
Shhh, don’t tell anyone it’s actually my rum punch recipe without the rum :) although if it’s not 10 am I definitely recommend adding the rum :) Here is the link http://www.thelilypadcottage.com/2013/07/rum-punch-recipe.html I added more gingerale to make up for the lack of rum.
