Our Living Room
Welcome to our living room. It is one of my favorite places in our house, it is so cozy and has an amazing view!
I love all our built ins in this room. I worked with our cabinet maker designing them exactly how I wanted them.
I’m constantly changing and rearranging the bookshelves (any one else do this or am I the only one obsessed?)
Our mantel features a picture taken of the church we were married in, I love that photo!
We cheated a bit in this room and had carpet in-laid in to the floor to look like an area rug. This saved us major bucks on our hardwood floors, bonus we didn’t have to buy an expensive area rug either!
These chairs were my grandmother’s, I always LOVED them. When she passed I was so glad to take them home with me as a reminder of her. I just spruced them up a bit, I spray painted them gray and reupholstered them with some light blue ticking to make them a bit more cottagey. They just make me happy to look at and bring back great memories of my grandma.
Our kitchen over looks our living room, which is nice since we are always gathered in the kitchen anyways.
So that is our living room, hope you enjoyed the tour!

Hi Kelly,
Your living room is lovely! I have a nearly identical pair of cane chairs from my grandmother! I love them but they definitely at least need to be reupholstered and I’m debating painting them as well. Where did you find the ticking fabric you used on yours and what brand/color of spray paint did you use? I love how yours turned out, but I’ve never found a gray spray paint that I loved. Thanks!
LOVE your house!!!!!! Can you tell me where you got your coffee table? And also, is there somewhere on your website that explains how exactly you painted your front hall table that you bought at Homegoods? I LOVE the blue and white colors!!!
I would also love to know where you got your coffee table and how it is holding up! You have such wonderful taste.
Hey Crystal I got our ottoman at a clearance sale at a local furniture store 3 years ago. It’s managed to survive my kids so far :)
I came by from 6th Street Design School and now I have a huge crush on your home! It’s just perfect down to the last detail. Also, major lake envy!! I grew up going to my grandfather’s lake cottage for weeks each summer and there is NOTHING that makes me happier than a deep breath of lake air. Enjoy it!
Thanks so much! We do love it here, lake air is sooo relaxing :) Thanks for stopping by!
Hi. I too love lake living. Did so for the first 21yrs of my life and am blessed that both my parents & in-laws live on the lake. I’d love to know your paint colors/sources for all the rooms in your home. Have you considered bogging about that? I’m pretty sure you’d make us all tickled pink if you didn’t mind sharing! Love yout cottage style!
Hi! What a beautiful home you have. I love the lights you have over your dining table. Did you make those or are they buyable? Would love any info you remember on them! Blessings!
Love the whole look. Clean and comfortable. Love the deep couch and chair. Can you share brand and style?
Hi Holly! I got the couches about 6 years ago when we lived in IA. I can’t seem to find any brand name or anything sorry :(
So beautiful…makes me miss our lake cabin. LOVE all the built-ins and the little “lake” sign you made. Great job! Found you through The Rustic Pig! Happy to be your newest follower, would love to have you stop by for a visit! :)
I’m a lake living girl too! Nothing compares to the water out your back door, wall of windows and bed in the morning. I too love your color on the walls. I’m redoing mine so could you please share what it is? I have your same clock! Love your place and your adorable kids!! I saw you a long time ago and then again on Liz Marie blog…It’s a sign!
Hi Kelly. Your house is just gorgeous! Love all the touches. Very refined cozy. Not overdone. It is so hard to hold back sometimes! I feel like I need to go declutter again now! :) I also would love to know what couch you have – we are in the market for new ones!
I’m wondering about your paint color also. Looks a little like SW Sea Salt.
What paint color do you use
I love all the peaceful colors. Something you would never get tired of
