Lake House Laundry Room with Floral Wallpaper
I have another “beat the winter blues” project for you today! I recently decided to update our lake house laundry room with some cheery floral wallpaper. Well it actually started with new tile, but let me back up. When we built this house, I originally had wanted to tile the backsplash in the laundry room, but it wasn’t in the budget. We had some leftover wallpaper from the powder room so I decided to wallpaper the back wall last minute. It actually was a great place holder for all these years, but 7 years later it was time for a change.

I had these beautiful calendar prints from one of my favorite Michigan artists Katherine Cordon. The gorgeous blues and greens really inspired the whole room.

I found this pretty green tile on sale and had to have it. The hunt for a coordinating floral wallpaper began.

I didn’t want to spend a ton, so I found this peel and stick wallpaper that worked perfectly. I was a little leery of trying to install peel and stick, but it was actually so much easier than I anticipated.

Once I removed the old wallpaper, (my least favorite job) I installed the new wallpaper. I love how cheery it makes the room feel.

Up next came the tile. This took me one afternoon since it was a small area. I used Musselbound adhesive like I did in my kitchen and my trusty wet saw. I always say if you can use a sewing machine you can use a wet saw, it’s really not a hard DIY!

Now that I’m in love with my fun laundry room tile and wallpaper, it was time to zhuzh the accessories in here.

I found some new baskets and bottles to make my shelves cute. Could I just leave my detergent in the bottle? Sure, but it’s a little thing that makes laundry more fun.

Our laundry room pulls double duty as our dog room. I decided to upgrade June and Charles crates with this table/crate furniture piece. It looks so much nicer than the old wire kennels we had here. It also added more counter space which has been so nice for folding and ironing.

I also added a little valet hook so I could easily steam or hang dry clothes.
This wire file rack has been keeping me organized for years. There is one for each kid and a shared folder for Dan and I. Anything important from school, mail, bills, etc…goes in there for safe keeping.

I’m so happy with my new cheery little laundry room and it’s working so much better for me too!
