Hague Blue Breakfast Nook Cabinets
Every winter I start to go a little stir crazy in the house, and the cure for that is usually rearranging, painting, or sprucing something. This winter I decided to add a little color to our breakfast nook! I’d been thinking of painting the glass front cabinets for a while now. Last week I finally broke out the paint. Now I have the Hague Blue breakfast nook cabinets of my dreams!

I’m SO happy I decided to go for it on this one. Painting cabinets is always a bit intimidating, but worth it. Somehow adding this splash of blue made our kitchen feel so completely different!

I love Farrow and Ball colors (who doesn’t?) and their blues are always so pretty. I went back and forth on a few different colors, but finally settled on this deep navy. I like to use Benjamin Moore Advance paint for cabinets, so I had my local paint store color match the Hague Blue for me. The Advance Paint has a leveling agent in it that really gives you a smooth finish perfect for cabinets.

I like to use Wooster brushes and a small roller for cabinets to ensure a nice even finish.
I also painted the island in the same Blue Hague color. Yes I know it was already navy, (previously Blue Note by Benjamin Moore) but Blue Hague is a bit warmer and muddier. It’s a subtle change, but I love it.

Next on my list of little changes for this space is recovering the bench cushion. My teenage son sits here and let’s just say the current light beige fabric has seen better days. I ordered a really pretty indigo striped Sunbrella fabric to replace it with, so stay tuned for that!

It has been a looooong winter here in Michigan, so who knows what room I will tackle next, but for now I’m loving my Hague Blue Breakfast Nook Cabinets.

I love this! I’m so glad that you matched your island to the Hague Blue color, it makes the room come together. We recently painted our cabinets, so I know exactly what you mean by it being intimidating. Thanks so much for sharing!
Beautiful job Kelly! You have excellent taste! I love your blog and your posts! Can I hire you to help me with my home??😁
LOVE, love, love your new painted kitchen hutch color! Especially with all the white dishes inside! What an inspiration! Love glass doors on cabinets which open up the room. Mine are white, the couple that I have, and love that too. Yours are a total inspiration! Enjoy your Spring – it’s coming!

Love F&B and I also have Railings on my kitchen Island and laundry room millwork. The Hague blue works great in your space and highlights the contents of your cabinet beautifully!
You did an excellent job in painting the hutch. Your house is truly gorgeous.
The hutch would have set everything off it were a different colour. Being so dark, it closes the room up. Something other than blue would have been a real pick me up. ☺️
Having said that Kelly, it’s what you and your family love that matters.
You certainly do have a flair for decor and dress.
Enjoy the process!

I almost chose this color for our living room bar/cabinet duo, but went with F&B “Railings” because of the intense light in the room (20 ft ceilings). F&B really does have the most amazing paint, and color wheel! I also match with a more modestly priced SW or BM paint, and no one knows the difference. Love your home, and all the updates as well! Happy Spring (here in Missouri, we also await, after a rather brutal Winter).
Beautiful color ! Always a treat when you post !
