Lake House Guest Cottage Bedroom Designs

Greetings from the middle of Michigan summertime, the most glorious time of the year! Things are still a little stop and go over at the guest cottage. I’m planning an update post next week! Today I thought I would share the design boards I’m sloooowly pulling together for the bedrooms.

LAKE HOUSE GUEST COTTAGE BEDROOM DESIGNS

Lake house gray and white bedroom design

First up, the main bedroom which is a whopping 2 ft bigger than the guest bedroom. Let me backup and remind you this whole house is about 600 sq ft. The bedrooms are…ahem…cozy. We were able to squeeze a queen bed in here and not a whole lot else! I snagged this bed on prime day. It was surprisingly easy to assemble. I’m really happy with the way it looks especially for the price.

I shopped my house, and I’m using our Serena and Lily winter bedding. Unfortunately it’s no longer available, but I found a really similar set at Target so I’ll link that below. A small bedside table and lamp will provide a place to set a book or charge a phone. That’s about it! Minus some window coverings, art, and accessories that I will add in down the road. I should probably finish painting first…you know me I’m ready for the fun stuff!

Over in the slightly less roomy bedroom we had to go down to a full size bed. This metal and upholstered bed is at a great price point, and it took 5 minutes to put together. You just unfold it and use 4 screws to lock it in place – love it! I picked up this cute striped bedding at Target and love the subtle stripes. These are my favorite cozy blankets from Target. We have the gray one and it’s so soft, so I picked up the Clay colored one too.

Again just enough room for a small table, lamp, and a rug to lighten up the dark floors.

That’s where I’m at so far. I’m still dreaming up the living room and kitchen area. Oh the kitchen! The cabinets are in and they are coming to measure countertops later this week. Like I said update coming soon!

  1. Hi Kelly,
Great ideas! I am also in the process of decorating my vacation home in Lake Tahoe, CA. I would love to know where you purchased the black side table in the first guest room. It is exactly what I am looking for to have in my guest rooms. Thank you!

  2. I’m so happy that I came across your blog! You’re eye and style are similar to mine and your posts are hilarious! I’m saved the rug mentioned in this post for my move, it looks durable for a dining room, and the coupon is generous. Love this all!

  3. Hi Kelly, you make this all seem so effortless but I know it’s not! Do you mind sharing what program you use to make your design boards? Love how clean they are-so great for envisioning the final product!

  4. All great choices and I like that you’re shopping your house for some stuff! Excited to see the end result! I didn’t see where that side table is from in the Queen bedroom?

  5. 😍🥰Can’t wait to see this finished. It’s going to be the most amazing she shed lynnever 🥰😍🤩

  6. You are killing it again Kelly! I love that you are able to put together a great looking place using inexpensive furnishings, etc. I can’t wait to see it complete. You are making yourself crazy with the trim color. LOL. It’ll come together I am sure. Enjoy

  7. Do the bedrooms have closets? You might consider either a luggage stand/rack that sits inside the closet or a section of shelves (if it’s a wider closet) so people have a place to unpack non-hanging clothing (shirts, jeans, sweatshirts, underwear). If they have that there’s no reason to have anything more in the room than bed and nightstand.
