Navy and White Lake House Mudroom
The tour continues today at my parent’s lake house with the mudroom. Well, mudroom/entryway/foyer, it’s always confusing at a lake house. Technically the lake side of the house is the “front” but then also the street side, or back side typically has the front door? I don’t know what to tell you, except through the front door you will find this charming entry that does double duty as a mudroom. So let’s take a little tour of their navy and white lake house mudroom.

We wanted to create an inviting yet practical space to greet you when you first enter their home. My mom fell in love with several images on Pinterest of buffalo check patterned tile floors, and I knew this would be a great spot to implement that design.

Although it created a bit of headache for the tile installers, we are so pleased with how it turned out. We used 3 colors of tile -a navy/charcoal tile, a medium blue tile, and a cream color.

Now that we had our large scale patterned tile floor, we decided to go all in with pattern on the walls as well.

I have loved this wallpaper for a long time and it’s so fun in this space. My tip for mixing patterns is to make sure the scales are different. This wallpaper has a tight small scale abstract floral pattern, so it plays well with the larger square geometric floor pattern.

Navy custom cabinets painted to match the front door finished the space.

I love a large mirror in an entry so you have a spot for a final check before you head out the door. We opted for a wood tone mirror here, since this flows into the kitchen with a wood island.

We added a table for a spot to throw your keys, mail, and library books. This one is great because it has nice storage as well.

My mom found this little chair at an antique store, since they were missing a spot to sit down to put on shoes.

This is my grandpa’s old umbrella stand my mom has had forever, it is such a special piece.

This room looks like one big rectangle but it actually opens up to a back hall that leads to the guest bath. It is the perfect spot to corral their dog when they aren’t home. My uncle built this little dutch pocket door on wheels, so they can easily close off this space. It’s so nice not to have dog gates lying around when not in use.

Oh and I can’t forget this cute bunny lamp, I think it may still be out of stock but you can sign up to be notified when they get it back!

This navy and white lake house mudroom really came together to be such a warm welcoming space, with a touch of whimsy that I love.

I’m teasing you all with sneak peeks of the kitchen, that I cannot wait to share next week!

The cabinet and front door color was a color match to their shutters. I’ll include a pic of the formula on the can for you below.

There are so many things I love about this entry. It turned out amazing. What size did you get for the mirror?
Are you able to tell me exactly what tile you used for the buffalo check floor? Its lovely and creative while not being over the top at the same time – I absolutely love it (and I’m struggling to find tile for my own mudroom project…)
What is the size of the mirror you used from Wayfair? Thank you. Beautiful room!!!
Hi Kelly,
It’s gorgeous! Are you able to link the brass cabinet pulls on the builtins? Thanks!
Hi Kelly,
Everything looks amazing! I love the bunny lamp but don’t see where to sign up for notification for back in stock on Wayfair’s site. Thanks!
