Hello, hello! Welcome to the Summer Showcase of Homes. I’m so excited to have you all over for my house tour along with the 25 other fabulous bloggers participating.
Let’s get this show on the road – come on in! You may want to start on the lake side which is the best part of our house – don’t worry about the sand I swear my kids have dragged half the sandbox in here already :)
We live on an inland lake here in Michigan and were blessed to build our house here in 2010. It’s still a work in progress much to the Mr.’s dismay and you never know what will be rearranged/repainted/re-purposed on any given day.
This is the (never before seen on the blog!) lake side of the house. We have big plans to add a pergola on the back for some shade in the future.
Most people come in thru this door, because we are always out here splashing in the lake with our kids. So I’ll bring you this way too, straight into the mudroom – which is normally complete chaos.
Off the mudroom is this cute little (never before seen) half bath. I’m working on some finishing touches in here and I’ll be sharing it all on the blog soon.
We can also take a swing thru the laundry room, which NEVER looks this clean, I can’t actually see the floor in this room in real life at the moment – so feel special that I spiffied up in here for you all.
Let’s head to our main living space which is pretty much one big room with our kitchen, dining area and living room. We wanted to keep this open so we could all hang out together when I’m cooking, the Mr. is working on his computer or the kids are chasing the dog around the couch.
I inherited a couple of hand me down chairs from my mom a few weeks ago so they are making their blog debut today too. This room is so cozy especially in winter. I especially love all my built in bookcases for storing my vintage finds.
The kitchen is one of my favorite spots since we all tend to hang out in here…
Especially our dog Buddy (he loves to photo bomb!) who is always hunting for crumbs.
Let’s run upstairs and check out the bedrooms.
It’s under construction at the moment but here are a few sneak peaks of my new DIY upholstered bed. Stay tuned for more changes in here.
In the meantime we can just enjoy the view!
My absolute FAVORITE spot in the whole house, is my bathroom. It’s so calm in here, it’s definitely my place to restore my sanity after a long day with the kiddos.
Relaxed yet?
You are now entering the kid land section of the tour, beware of stepping on stray legos! Everything in here was designed around our 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son and they love to play in these spaces.
First up the playroom – which never, ever looks this clean, if you open those big toy closets you will be buried under an avalanche of barbies and matchbox cars…
This hallway leads down to the kids rooms – anyone need a ski ride?
Our cozy reading nook.
My daughter’s new big girl room, we had so much fun designing this colorful room together.
My son’s nursery just got a nautical big boy makeover too which he loves.
And since we are in the midst of potty training I’ll show you our kids bath too!
Well I think you have seen it all, should we head back outside for some s’mores??

Your house is totally fabulous. Totally my colors, and I love all your vintage touches.
Can we be bff’s at Haven please? I, too, have a 5 yr old daughter (we were commiserating over Kindergarten a couple days ago on IG) who happens to be named Lily, and a 2 yr old son! Oh, and I grew up in Michigan!
Can’t wait to meet you at Haven Anna!
Wow! What a stunning view! Your house is gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing :)
Your home is so lovely. My favorite on this tour so far!! If I lived there, I would never want to leave for any reason.
I try not to leave too much Gina, except for those good ole Michigan winters, then I’m ready to get out LOL
Hi Kelly,
Your home is magazine-worthy. I honestly don’t know where to begin. The setting is AMAZING, the color scheme the well edited rooms with vintage finds, the casual, comfortable style. All of it is done impeccably and your style and personality come through loud and clear. Beautiful home, great home tour,
Kathysue
Thanks Kathy Sue, so glad you stopped by!
Seriously girl! Your home is a model home! It seriously looks like it belongs in a magazine. That’s it… I’m not doing mine now! :)

Your home is fantastic Kelly! I absolutely adore your kitchen–open shelving and subway tile looks so fabulous. Love everything about your home. It should be in a magazine! Seriously! I’m showing it to someone I know…..~Delores

Thanks Patty, I love my cane chairs, I inherited them from my Grandma so they have special meaning to me too!
Your home is gorgeous! You are fortunate to have such a lovely location too. It would be hard to pick a favourite room and I love how the colours flow from space to space. Thanks for sharing! I am inspired to work on a few more projects here now.
Glad I could inspire you, thanks Elizabeth!
I never get tired of seeing your house, Kelly. So beautiful! When can I come visit?? ;)
Anytime friend!!
Love your house! So picture perfect!! Love your kitchen, master bath and kids rooms! I am trying to work on a play area for our boys and it is driving me crazy trying to get it just the way I want it!
It took me a while to figure the playroom out too, and I’m still changing it around – stay tuned!
So fresh and luvly. Lucky you having a home right on a lake… Thanks for having me.
Hugs, Gee
Thanks for stopping Gee!
Kelly, I have always wanted to have a home near water… not necessarily to be in the water, but to decorate it in soft blues lots of white and wonderful nautical themes. Actually, jusy like your BEAUTIFUL home!!!! What a lovely sanctuary!
LOVE it! Thanks for all the inspiration!
The Lilypad Cottage is CHARMING! How special to live in this beautiful lakeside location in this great house. You’ve obviously made this house into a perfect home for your family. I think your kitchen is great with all those tall cupboards and the view from your dining room is incredible. I’d never want to venture far. Some of my favorites that popped into view immediately: the aqua birdcage, the alphabet wall, the signs above your daughter’s bed, and (big sigh here) your soaking tub with the FABULOUS view.
Guess you figured out I enjoyed the tour. ‘-)
Thanks for having us! ~ Sarah
So glad you enjoyed it Sarah :)
I loved EVERY single room. One room was as great as the next and the next and the next. To start with, what an absolutely spectacular place to call home. It is my ultimate dream to live on the water, and a lake is top of the list. Your home is so charming, and I couldn’t take in all of the personal details fast enough. I just devoured each pic. Thanks Carol, the playroom is one of my favorite hang outs :)
Oh, is there room for me to move in with you? What a wonderful place to live. As if the views to the water aren’t enough, your décor inside is wonderful too. I love that giant aviary (I think that’s what it is) on the gate leg table in your family room. I could live in your master bath – what a spectacular view. Thanks so much Terry, we feel so blessed to live here :)
Oh Kelly!
This is my very first visit to your awesome blog – and AMAZING HOME!
I absolutely love your style – how perfect for a lake home! Your view is priceless, just wow!
You have created magazine worthy charming awesomeness – and your tour has been a real eye treat.
I grew up on Lake Erie and had a lake view from my bedroom…and I am now in mid land-locked Columbus, and miss the water sometimes so much I cry. Silly, been here over 20 years and love it, but when someone is used to watching the sun go down into water, well, it never quite leaves us, does it?
LOVE your home and lake cottage style, you have perfect design sense and I am definately going to follow you and catch up from old/older posts. Very nice meeting, you, ma’am!
Thanks so much Michele, your comments totally made my day! We live in IA for 5 years so I know what you mean about feeling land locked after growing up in MI. Thanks so much for following!
I know I’ve said it before, but your house is just gorgeous Kelly! Our dream is to live on a lake one day and your dock and view from your home is spectacular! Hope you are having a wonderful summer! Shared on Facebook.
Jenn :)
Thanks for sharing Jenn! Hope you all are having a great summer too!
Ok – that settles it – I’m coming over for cocktails and s’mores!
Love your little photo bomber too – and the skis!
Kelly
Deal! You bring your margaritas, or sangria or both!
WOW!!!! Loved your home….I could move right in as there wasn’t one single thing that I didn’t love…thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks Nancy, you are too sweet!
your home is one of my all time favorites- just so beautiful and personal!
Thanks so much Cassie :)
L-O-ve it!! Each room has its own personality yet the whole house flows together. Thanks for letting us stop by.
My favorite is the alphabet wall but that’s probably the teacher in me ;)
Where did you find the “r”???
Thanks! Glad my alphabet wall is teacher approved :) I found the R at an antique flea market, that I love to visit.
Kelly, your home is so beautiful! I love how light, airy and NEW it is! And of course the view doesn’t hurt either! What a wonderful place to raise a family. Thanks for sharing!
My kids do love it here on the lake, thanks Lisa!
Gorgeous!

I absolutely love your home. It looks so comfortable and cozy! Can you share what the blue color is in your dining area?
LOVE your home tour! I’m so sad we didn’t get to chat more, I was looking forward to it, and I only saw you that ONE time we exchanged cards!
So pretty! I`d like to view the plans…
Your house is gorgeous! You are a talented interior designer!! My husband and I are going to be building a house soon and we have been in the process of trying to find a house plan. Do you have the house plan/floor layouts of your house that you are willing to share? Did you draw up your own house plans?
Thank you!
Hey Eva, we had an architect draw them up for us, but they are really actually kind of wonky bc we have a weird triangular lot. We definitely had to work with what we had!
Beautiful home! My family is actually in the process of moving back to Michigan which we are very excited about (: I was wondering where you got your dining table set? That is exactly what I am looking for in our new home. Just wondering if/where you purchased it or if you made it? Thanks!
I love your home! Do you happen to know what color is in your living room? It is beautiful!
Hey Chanelle, you can find all my paint colors here https://www.thelilypadcottage.com/2014/01/paint-colors.html although I just repainted my living room Brittany Blue so if you are looking at the most recent photos – that would be the color :)
Hi! Where is your couch from? Thanks!
Hey Megan, got it about 7 years ago from a random clearance sale, there aren’t even any tags or name brands on it to give you a lead, sorry!
Hi there! Your house is beautiful! What color is in your dining room? I’m looking for that color to do in my dining room also. Thanks!
It’s Brittany Blue – thanks!
