Apple Cider Spritz

Ever since our trip to Italy last fall, I’ve been hooked on an Aprerol Spritz. It was just the perfect refreshing light and summery drink to enjoy all summer long. Fear not, now that autumn has arrived, there is a cozy fall version! This past weekend we snuck in a little late afternoon lunch date (we were at Dog and the Bank for you locals) and they had a “Fall Spritz” on the menu so I had to try it. Yup, sold, the perfect cocktail to enjoy on these still warm fall evenings. Luckily Dan was able to recreate this delicious Apple Cider Spritz for me to share with all of you!

I have to admit I was a little leery of how the bitter orange flavor of the aperol would taste with the addition of apple cider. However, it is the perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and spicy.

What’s in a Fall Spritz?

  • Apple Cider
  • Aperol
  • Bourbon
  • Prosecco
  • Sparkling water
  • Cinnamon sugar

This apple cider spritz is made much like a traditional aperol spritz with the addition of the apple cider. It also has a bit of an extra kick with the addition of the bourbon, so be careful this is a bit stronger than a typical spritz!

Don’t forget to add the cinnamon sugar around the rim. That little bit of cinnamon really adds SO much to this cocktail.
