Easy Slow Cooker Applesauce

A few weeks ago on Instagram I shared that I was making my easy slow cooker applesauce. Since then, my DM box has been full of questions for the recipe. I in fact had never actually measured what I put in my applesauce recipe. It was always a handful of this, a pinch of that, but some of you prefer actual precise measurements. So today you are in luck, I finally measured everything for my easy slow cooker applesauce “recipe”.

I say “recipe” in quotes, because it could not be easier. You only need 4 ingredients –

• Apples
• Brown sugar
• Cinnamon
• Orange juice

Throw it all in a crockpot and let it cook all day. Bonus your house will smell amazing!

This “recipe” is also easy to customize. You can add more, or less cinnamon to taste. Don’t have any orange juice? A squeeze of lemon juice works too!

My kids like it blended up so I use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency. For chunkier applesauce you can use a potato masher instead.

You can also cook this on high for 4 hours, or low and slow all day. You really can’t mess it up!

Ingredients

• 3 lb apples any variety will work but I like to use granny smith or fuji
• 1/4 c brown sugar
• 1/4 c orange juice
• 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon you can add more to taste

Equipment

• 1 slow cooker or crockpot

Method

 

1. Peel and slice apples and add to the slow cooker.
2. Add cinnamon, brown sugar, and orange juice on top.
3. Cover and allow to cook until soft. On low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.
4. Mash with a potato masher or blend with an immersion blender until desired consistency. Enjoy!
