Dining Room Wall Art

So, I’m still working away on the DIY project I mentioned last week. I’ve hit a little road block in the fact that I need an extra set of arms. Preferably really muscly arms, that can hold a really heavy metal pipe up for me, while I attach it to the ceiling. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I shared a sneak peek of the big Billy Bookcase project I’m working on.

I always try to tackle my big DIY projects when the Mr. is gone. Mainly because he never gets my vision until it’s all done and it just saves me time trying to talk him into things, when clearly I already know they are going to turn out awesome…probably.

This usually works out in my favor until it comes to the heavy lifting. I almost killed myself trying to push the first box of bookshelves up the stairs. I was laying at the top of the stairs sweating and half dead when my daughter says to me –

“um, Mom? Like, for the next box of shelves? Couldn’t you just open the box downstairs and take the wood up the stairs one at a time? Wouldn’t that be easier?”

WHERE WERE YOU 30 MINUTES AGO GENIUS???  I always knew my kids would be smarter than me, just maybe not at 6 years old… :)

Anyways, I followed her sage advice and got all the shelves built. I’m just waiting on building my rolling library ladder and I’ll be able to show you guys the new hallway.

In the meantime, I thought I would quick share this awesome sign I got from House of Belonging. It was my Christmas gift from the Mr. (picked out and purchased by his elf, i.e. – me) and I was so excited to get it up on the wall. Tiffani has the most beautiful Etsy shop (and blog) you should definitely check it out if you haven’t before.

This is one of my favorite, favorite songs we sing at our Church and as soon as I saw this hit her shop I knew I had to have it.

I’m still moving things around and figuring out how I want to style this space, but this is what it looks like at the moment.

Sorry about the glare, the sun was actually shining last week! Here is a close up of my sweet kiddos and one of our favorite family photos, can it be summer yet?

Art and Room

I’m still searching for a plant or something for a pop of color, because this vase normally sits over on the table…

Oh, and I picked up this new clock from my Joss and Main sale, the one I had on the wall somehow fell down during a Star Wars lightsaber/pillow fight…ahem, and the arms busted off. This one is a little bigger and chunkier than the old one and I love it, so we’ll just call it a happy accident.

Here’s hoping I talk the Mr. into helping with the heavy lifting and I can show you my new hall library soon…

  10. I really like the grey/driftwood looking frames…Is that something you painted to look like that or purchased? I really like that color so I was hoping to change around some frames at my house. I have a lot of plastic, wood & metal frames.

    1. Hi Christy I painted them to look like that. I just kept layering grey and white paint letting the brush strokes show thru and then distressing them a bit. I should have done a tutorial on it!

      1. Thanks Kelly! I just got a can of Krylon’s Chalky Finish in misty grey from our local craft store Michaels. I would totally check out your tutorial, if you end up showing us (maybe a future post when things slow down…not for awhile, right :) ). Thanks so much for the tips! I just got my Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System! :) My husband even noticed how smooth my face looks & feels! :) Thanks!

  12. I have found that when the male of the species is gone for a while that when they return they are so happy to be home that they will do almost anything for the female of the species. Notice I did say “almost”. Oh be sure to have a nice dinner first and perhaps a nice bottle of wine or whatever the male indulges in. Ecco!! You have your assistant! Good Luck!

      1. Hi, your home is beautiful! What is the color of paint you have on the wall behind the prayer?

  13. Beautiful room. I love the lt blue and white. I miss all the white I had in an earlier house. This one is all stained wood moldings, very different from what I was use to decorating around. Love the sign. Which one is it in her esty shop. I have a perfect spot above the stairs.
