Blue and Red Christmas Tree Decor

I’m hosting Christmas for both sides of our family in a few weeks. Since we are celebrating early, I hopped right on getting my tree up this year! I loved the classic red tree I did last year. I couldn’t quite give up on using that deep wine color again. I still wanted to switch it up a bit though. After much debate, I landed on this Blue and Red Christmas Tree Decor.

It’s no surprise that blue is my favorite color, as we have a lot throughout our home. It has been a while since I’ve added blue into the mix for Christmas.

This year, I decided to add a smokey pale blue velvet ribbon to bring in the color. I also bought an inexpensive pack of pale blue ornaments.

It’s surprising how easy it is to change the look and feel of a tree with only a pack or two of ornaments and some ribbon. I used a mixture of mercury glass and gold ornaments to fill in the rest of the tree.

Oh and wrapping paper! I found this really gorgeous pack of patterned wrapping paper. It really adds so much to the bottom of the tree.

Especially since I realized I decorated the entire tree without putting the tree collar on the bottom first. I didn’t want to risk moving the tree, so I just threw a knit blanket around the bottom. I added the presents and no one needs to know!

I carried the blue velvet ribbon over to the mantel as well. I decided to keep things super simple with a wreath and garland this year.

The gold bells were a fun addition too.

I’m loving the warm glow of the Christmas lights on these early dark evenings. Next up I need to tackle my table and menu for the parties! I’ll be sharing those soon too!

  2. I’m curious if you mixed widths of ribbon on your tree or if both the burgundy and soft blue are 1″ ribbon. Thank you.
