Lake House Living Room Design

I owe you all a big house update post on my parents Lake Cottage. The kitchen cabinets are in and flooring is going down – it’s actually starting to look like a real house! I’m hoping to take photos later today, when I can stay out of their way. So stay tuned for that post coming soon. In the meantime I thought I would start working on some design ideas for their new home. Today, I’m sharing their lake house living room design.

Their living room features these really gorgeous wood trusses and of course a beautiful lake view. My mom requested lots of navy and white in the design plan to keep a coastal feeling.

Here is the direction we are headed…

We’ve decided the best furniture layout for this space is a sofa with a chaise on one end and a big comfortable swivel chair. These won’t be the final fabric selections, but for photoshop sake this is what I had to use.

I wanted to anchor everything with a fun rug with lots of texture and blues throughout.

Their Lake Cottage Design is more on the traditional side with dark wood, brass, and trim details. I mixed in a few more traditional furniture elements with the brass floor lamp and console table. We may hunt for some antique pieces as well this summer. I love to mix in some collected pieces along with more modern furniture like the coffee table.

The wall above the sofa is a great place to display family photos. I love a gallery wall especially when it’s simple and streamlined like this one.

Of course we will add in more character and details with end tables, throw blankets, baskets, etc… We also collected some art and pillows on our recent Italy vacation that we will incorporate as well.

Stay tuned for a huge update on the house, both inside and out, later this week!
